About FreshSenseHub
FreshSenseHub gives Americans plain-English food shelf-life answers faster than scattered forum threads or dense storage charts. Every article walks one food through its lifecycle stages: what to look for, what to do, and when to toss it.
Where our durations come from
The shelf-life numbers we cite are anchored to conservative storage ranges and checked against public food-safety guidance such as USDA FoodKeeper, FDA storage guidance, and USDA FSIS safe-handling rules. When guidance differs, we use the stricter window.
Read the full FreshSenseHub methodology for how we choose ranges, review drafts, and handle corrections.
Editorial principles
- When in doubt, throw it out. Saving a few dollars isn't worth a foodborne illness.
- No hedging. We avoid "probably fine," "if it smells okay," and similar non-answers.
- Preserve the anchor. AI-assisted cleanup is not allowed to change the configured duration for a food.
- Safety beats salvage. Cooking, trimming, or reheating does not undo spoilage or unsafe storage history.
